Tiny Human is twelve plus one,
His Mummy is a nervous wreck.
She is a ringer for Cleopatra
So deep in de-Nile she went.
Tiny Human is twelve plus one,
Mummy is not ready yet.
For teenage years, and teenage tears
We grownups tried hard to forget.
Tiny Human is twelve plus one,
Oh how the time has flown.
Just yesterday you were a grand newborn
Tomorrow you will tower o’er me.
Tiny Human is twelve plus one,
What parent is ever prepared?
They are not, you will find, real superheroes,
Except in the eyes of their child.
Happy Birthday my Tiny Human,
My little love.
I may not be ready, but…
Your Mom is here.
Mommy will be just fine. Mommy needs to realize that she’s done a good job so far – and by damn she’ll continue to do so come what may.
Peace, dear – all of you will survive this.
Mummy doesn’t feel fine at the moment. She feels like a fish out of water. Thank you for your faith in me–just need to have a wee bit more in myself.
And remember, you are not alone.
Thanks. Some days it’s harder than others to remember that.
